Las batuecas is a natural landscape of great beauty tour of the Batuecas River basin of the Tagus River in the mountains of France to the South of the province of Salamanca and the North of Cáceres. About this area wrote Lope de Vega in the 16th century a comedy titled Las Batuecas del Duque of Alba describing it as a happy Arcadia where the batuecos live ignorant of all foreign and isolated from the world.
